Advertisers Can Now Use Branded Influencer Posts as Ads

This post was written by littleBIG Social Media Guru Cherie Haysom.

As of today advertisers can now promote influencer branded posts as feed ads. This has been one of the biggest requests Instagram has had and they have finally delivered the goods!

 Why introduce Branded Content Ads:

68% of people say they come to Instagram to interact with influencers. With branded content ads, businesses have an opportunity to tell their brand stories through an influencer’s voice, reach new people and measure the results. Using tools available on the Facebook ads platform, businesses can extend their reach beyond just the people who follow the brand and influencer accounts. By running branded ads, they’ll have access to measurement tools and can optimise and test their campaigns to improve marketing outcomes. When these ads appear in their feed and stories, people will see “Paid partnership with” along with the brand name on each post— this is important for transparency.

How to run Branded Content Ads:

There are 2 steps for creating branded content ads.

  1. Branded content influencers need to enable their business partners to promote their post as an ad, which they can do in Advanced Settings.
  2. Once they do this, the business partner will see the post on Ads Manager under Existing Posts and can choose to run it as an ad in feed or stories format.
