Wizz Fizz’s 70th Birthday


In 2017, iconic Australian confectionery brand, Wizz Fizz, celebrated its 70th birthday. littleBIG was tasked with creating a buzz around this impressive milestone through a strategic media relations and PR program, targeting long, mid and short-lead media across TV, print, radio and online.

Australians of all ages fondly remember growing up with Wizz Fizz, and nostalgia for the delicious sherbet product was widely felt amongst the media.

Through specially targeted pitching and media liaison, the campaign saw coverage published by major metropolitan news outlets such as Channel 10’s The Project, Channel 9’s Today Show, Channel 7 national news, KIIS FM’s Hughsey and Kate, Fox FM, Herald Sun and The Age.

Local Melbourne newspaper group, The Leader, also syndicated stories on Wizz Fizz’s 70th birthday across the city.

Joining in on the excitement, pop culture and lifestyle publications Pedestrian TV, Urban List and Home Beautiful, amongst others, also featured coverage of Wizz Fizz during the campaign.

In addition to traditional media, littleBIG engaged social media influencers, inviting key mummy and kiddie bloggers, as well as celebrities with young children, to attend Wizz Fizz’s super fun 70th Birthday Party at Melbourne mini golf club, Holey Moley.

Melbourne parenting bloggers including House of Harvee, Jessica Smith, Love Little Big, Millie Mummy Melbourne and Three Bees Blog all shared coverage of the event, and the story was picked up by a number of media outlets as a result of receiving invitations to attend.
