Iconic footwear label, Timberland, has relaunched into the Australian market with a unique concept store in the preeminent Chapel Street fashion precinct in South Yarra, Melbourne. Timberland is represented in Australia by leading footwear distributor and friend of LBMPR, The Accent Group.

“Chapel Street is one of Australia’s premier shopping destinations, where you’ll find every label you want. For this reason, Timberland had to make its mark here first,” explains General Manager, Accent Brands Shane Salter.

“Australia has the perfect balance between the rugged outdoors and a chic urban landscape, therefore fashion is so diverse, making it a perfect environment for Timberland,” continues General Manager Asia Pacific Distributors, Timberland Eric Tosello.

Tosello visited Melbourne to peruse the store and pursue further retail and wholesale plans for the brand last week which was very exciting.

The store was designed and developed by Timberland Global, staying true to their unique brand which blends its earthy roots with a contemporary feel and has Chapel Street regulars intrigued.

417 Chapel Street, South Yarra VIC 3141.

A bit of history

Timberland came to be in the 1970s, the elaborate plan of Nathan Swartz who already had an expansive shoe career spanning two decades after purchasing an interest in the Abington Shoe Company in Massachusetts in 1952.

Swartz and his sons introduced the revolutionary ‘injection moulding technology’ to the footwear industry, changing it forever as they had the ability to fuse soles to leather uppers without stitching, producing truly waterproof boots and shoes.

40 years on and Timberland continues to expand globally with tenacious innovation and unique approaches to developing the highest quality footwear for the outdoor and fashion arenas.
